A crowded kitchen counter, toys across the floor and dishes waiting in the sink can make it hard to relax at home. If those scenes feel stressful, you are not alone.
But it is important not to leap from “clutter bothers me” to “clutter causes depression.” A UCLA study found a link between how some parents described their homes and their stress patterns; it did not prove that a messy room causes a mental health condition.
